What are the differences between Bitty Twin and Maxy Muffin?

I have an old Maxy Muffin and wondering how the Bitty Twins compare. Body size, feel; hair, etc. The old Maxy Muffin I have has cloth (almost) to the wrists and ankles. I don't think the new ones do...

Looking for a doll for my three and a half year old. Definitely want hair, but not sure if it's worth getting TWO babies when I only need one!

I do love the Maxy, but she was bought at a thrift store and she needs some work done. Might as well get new...

Any personal preference?

I don't know any sort of baby dolls; sorry. [img]redface.gif[/img] But you could probably buy two twins and sell one on eBay? (Or find a twin on eBay, for that matter. Or give one to your kid and keep the other (an exact twin) for when she (I assume?) is older and has fond childhood memories of that doll, but wishes it was in better condition. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Sandy, thanks for the info and pics! Especially about Maxy's vinyl/cloth - I was really curious about that!

Now, I just need to know about the hair difference.

I may have found a friend to go in with me on the twins - seems more reasonable to do...

Welcome. We have two maxi's in our house and one bitty (not a twin). The maxi's are slightly larger but can wear bitty's clothes and shoes. Our 2 yr old Maxi has longer vinyl (less cloth) arms and legs than our 6 yr old maxi. The cloth will show even on the newer one if she wears a short sleeve bitty outfit and her cloth body is white so it really shows so she only wears bitty's long sleeve things.
The maxi's hair is rooted so if you take out the pig tails/braids it's hard to get the part right again. But even the 6 yr old maxi's hair is still gorgeous, not dry and frizzy at all.
They both have very sweet faces but I think (personal opinion) my hazel eyed(green w/ brown specks) maxi has the most beautiful doll eyes and eyelashes I have ever seen. Her lashes are soft and seperate from each other. A draw back of the maxi is her head does not turn. (At least on our's, don't know if they have changed this since I got her.) Bitty can be laid on my daughters shoulder and head turned like a real baby.
Both weigh about the same and have very soft, huggable bodies. The maxi can be machine washed in a pillow case and air dried.

Sorry my picture isn't that great. In the picture dolls are wearing each others clothes.
What doll you go with is a personal decision. They both have their good points. I love both and will probably someday get the twins, add my red head maxi and have triplets. Hope the info helps.
